Calico Ghost Town is one of the few remaining original mining towns of the western United States, now preserved by Walter Knott of Knott's Berry Farm as a museum. If you are in the Barstow area, this is a must see attraction!  Located at the side of the towering King Mountain, Calico was born in 1881 when one of the largest silver strikes happened in California history.

Calico Ghost Town is a few minutes off I-15 north of Barstow and about 12 miles. When you see the miner standing tall, you know you are getting close to this attraction. The Calico Lives Again Marker dates back to 1881.

One of the first personalities you will see is the Calico resident Sheriff. He checks all visitors coming into the town and only lets the good people into town. The bad hombres have to find another place to roam. The town hall is right up the street. Calico's infamous "Character Hall of Fame" is located at the Town Hall building.
